The typical way in which the Uber app works is by allowing the Users to complete the trip and make the payment post which they can go ahead and give ratings and reviews to the drivers. Now, many users complained that because of this system they would end up giving a default 5 star to the drivers even if they had a negative review because they would forget about their experience. Come to think of it that is so true. If you are on your way to somewhere and you are having the worst ride ever, but also you are getting late. What would you do? You would get down and rush to attend to the work that you had to complete. Now, after the work has finished and you need to book another ride, you open the app and see you have to rate the previous trip. You hardly care about the rating anymore and need to book the cab fast. So what you do is, you end up giving a 5 star for no reason and proceed to book the ride. Defeating the Purpose The whole purpose of giving ratings to drivers is to monitor who is good and who is dangerous. Sometimes drivers are rude, misbehaved and have a terrible attitude towards their passengers. With authentic rating the company monitors their behavior and keeps them in check to ensure that their behavior doesn’t escalate. Although the feature of rating is an excellent one but the fact that you can only rate AFTER was just a lapse of judgment on the part of the app. With repeated complaints from users who have mentioned similar instances as explained above, Uber has now finally chosen to pay heed and change that feature to a comfortable “RATE IN RIDE” experience. Use of the Data According to sources at Uber the data collected by the rating system will help the company identify “the top quality drivers through a new program in June”. They have in place, some sort of a reward program for drivers that have been exceptional. There is no doubt about the fact that Uber no longer has monopoly over the market. There are so many taxi apps available in the market today that the only thing Uber can bank on for customer loyalty is top notch service. The basic idea of getting a review is to ensure that drivers who are repeat offenders or who have gotten many negative reviews can be removed from the system and the drivers who have been excellent can be made into an example. We are yet to find out how the rewards are going to be manifested. The Uber Expansion Uber is a taxi giant. Apart from the fact that it was the first to start an On Demand Taxi application Uber has been very consistent in listening to what their Customers want. Uber prides itself on being one of the most User friendly and advanced taxi application in the world. It has millions if not billions of dollars in ensuring that people prefer their app over others. But technology is like wildfire. It catches on quickly. Now there are many taxi apps available in the market, each trying to up the other. In such a scenario Uber has to keep updating itself to ensure that people don’t switch to using others. This feature will surely go a long way in making customers even happier. The real value feedback that will be generated will also help Uber to ensure that they have nothing but the best staff with them. With better drivers and better user experience there is no way Users will choose to another. Many Uber app clone script has surfaced in the markets who are continuously adding technology to their system. This new feature will still take time to get updated and Uber can capitalize on that. In the past, Uber has had instances where passengers have been harassed by the drivers but no credible action has been taken. With this new feature, Uber definitely hopes to flatten a few creases.
